Using MS Access Linked Table as a Datasource for Webi/IDT

I created an 4.1 IDT universe that uses an MS Access 2010 linked table as a data source. Everything works fine in the universe. I am able to query data and parse without any issues. I am able to create and run a Webi report locally without any issues. The problem occurs when I save the Webi report to Enterprise. Whenever I try running the report from the Launchpad (server) it locks up and doesn't return data. This seems to be only happening with linked tables. I am able to run a report from Launchpad against other MS Access tables that are in the universe that are not linked tables. I also created a Query in Access that used the linked table and tried creating a universe using the query as the data source but had the same results.

 

I need this to be run from the Launchpad so being able to run locally only will not work. We are using 4.1 BOE and MS Access 2010. Any ideas on why this is happening and does anyone have a work around suggestion?

4.1 Webi Publication does not have Delivery Rules

I have created a publication for a Webi report in 4.1 BOE. I noticed that the publication does not have an option for Delivery Rules, which is available for Crystal Reports. I'm not sure if that is by Design, as I don't know why it would be available for one and not the other. Here's a summary of the issue:

 

My publication uses Dynamic Recipients which number over a hundred. Anytime the publication is run, only a few will actually have a report that contains data and is based on if they have posted data for the week or not. Thus it's always an unknown on who should receive a report before run time. So what winds up happening is I get a publication that emails a 100 or so blank reports and about 4 or 5 reports that actually contain data. Obviously the intent is to only send out the 4 or 5 reports that actually contain data. The Publication itself actually works as intended, but as I mentioned before Crystal has Delivery Rules that allow you to "Deliver only when report contains data" which is what I need in Webi.

 

Does anyone know of a way to get this to work in Webi without the Delivery Rules option? The workaround of course is to re-create the Webi report as a Crystal report and to create a publication for the Crystal report. But the desire is for this to be a Webi report so I am trying to figure out a solution.

Dialog box behind main browser window

Anyone else having trouble with dialog boxes in the Applet version of Web Intelligence popping up behind the main browser window?  This doesn't happen to me all the time, but I have had it happen occasionally with both IE 10 and Firefox 28.0.  We are on 4.1 SP01 Patch 6.  My computer is a 64-bit Windows 7 machine.

 

I have found that I can get around this glitch by minimizing all my windows (i.e. Show desktop) and then clicking the browser.  The hidden dialog will now be visible.  If I click on it, it will disappear again.  That is alright if all I needed to do was click "OK" or something like that.  However, if I need to do a number of clicks I can click it and drag it to the opposite monitor of my dual monitor configuration.  That gets old fast.  Close and re-opening my browser "fixes" it until it starts happening again.

Two measures in a same row for crosstab report

I would like to design a crosstab report with 3 dimensions and 1 key figure like this

Would it be possible? If yes, then how can I do it?

GMT to Local time (EST/CST/PST)

Hi Guys,

 

I am working on a report and need help for converting GMT to local time zones, all three (EST/CST/PST). Data is stored in GMT in TERADATA and User wants to see converted values depending on which Location they are opening the report. There are three locations and each uses one Time Zone (STL1-EST, STL2-CST, STL3-PST).

 

Any suggestions to achieve this scenario?

Complex roll up aggregation in Webi

I have one client’s requirement, I have the table as like below. Here Whenever any issue happens in the product comes as Returns Quan, Del Quan is nothing but total Del Quantities in that particular month.

Client wanted to analyze the report on return month wise, Let us take For Jan 2012 return date he wanted to aggregate for last 6 months delivery Quantity. The same way for Issue Quantity we should consider the current month also.

Output for Jan 2012 row the out should be as like below

In another words if you are looking for return date Jan 2012, we should check the same previous month i.e. Dec 2011 in Delivery Year Moth columns, once find from that Delivery Year Month we should go previous 6 months and aggregated for Del Quan Column.

 

So based on return Year Month we should go and check the year and month in Del columns and get the values and aggregate it.

 

So the final output for this requirement is as like below.

Input File repository server Error: The requested directory does not exist.

Hi,

 

Getting following error "The requested directory does not exist." for Input and Out put file repository server.

The specfied directory exists and the user has local administrative privelges with full control of the IFRS and OFRS location.

 

The location was earlier working and after trying to implement Windows AD the things stopped. Have tried reverting the things but the following issue still persists.

Sort LOVs for a numeric object

Hi,

Where is the option to order LOVs in BI 4.

 

In universe , list of values for a numeric objects shows this order. Can i sort it at object level? how to do it?

 

i can see that we have option to force sort in parameters tab.

Date format in webi userresponse()

Hi guys

 

i have @prompt created in universe to capture the date entered by the user.. but the problem i am getting is that while displaying the date selected by the user is showing very weird thing.. when the date selected is 03/04/2014 then in webi it is showing in mm/dd/yyyy format and when date is selected 25/04/2014 then it shows in dd/mm/yyyy format which is correct..

 

i have tried using formatdate(userresponse(); "dd/MM/yyyy") ---- no success

tried making changes in preferences as well ---- no success

tried changing the format on universe level by right clicking the object-> object format->date/time and added new format dd/MM/yyyy --- no success

 

 

can you help me what needs to be done to achieve same..

Hierarchy nodes are being displayed outside the main hierarchy.

Hi Gurus,

I'm creating a WEBI report over a BEx query by using a BEX Hierarchy (GL Account - 0gl_account) but some nodes are being displayed outside the main hierarchy.

Correct hierarchy is seen in picture below (transaction rsh1)

but in the webi report it's displayed like below. As you can see it's outside the last node of the hierarchy. "Dont show unassigned nodes" option is also checked on rsh1.

Dashboard Hierarchy component and Analysis edition for olap is showing this structure correctly. We only have problem on WEBI report.

We are using BO 4.1 Sp2.

How can we resolve this problem? Any ideas?

BOBJ 4.1 SP01 Web Intelligence Rich Client - "An Error Occurred at Session Creation"

I just installed BOBJ Client Tools 4.1 SP01 on my client's computer. However, when launching Web Intelligence Rich Client, we receive an error saying "An error occurred at session creation." Once the error box is closed, Rich Client stops loading and closes down. When I click the Details, the text which shows up says:

Unable to see fields in Universe

Hi gurus,

 

I am creating unv universe on top of SAP ERP tables. One weird issue happened when I added text table TVTW on universe. Although text field(VTEXT) sits on data display mode on se11 sap, I dont see it on field display screen.

 

I think why the field does not appear in the table schema on universe is because it is also not visible on the field screen in SAP.

 

 

Does anyone come across with this issue?

 

It's an urgent case I would need anyone's help, comments on that.

Working day formula that excludes weekends and holidays in WEBI

Hi Guys,

 

Can we calculate a working day formula that excludes weekends and holidays in WEBI OR in Universe?


The universe I am working on is using stored procedures, so there are no joins or modelling done. Although there is a workday stored proc  that I can bring in the universe.


I am just thinking if there is no modelling or joins done in the universe how will this help me in webi?

Performance Issues with Webi Reports

Hi,

 

my BI architecture:

- SAP BW 7.01 SP7

- BO XI3.1 SP 1.12

Data model:

- 2 DSO (1 for Purchase Request with about 600.000 record and 1 for Purchase Order with 1.000.000 record)

- 1 MultiProvider with the 2 DSO above

- 1 BEx query over MP

- BO Universe built on BEx query

 

Example of Record in DSO:

so in WEBI I built a new report with 2 query:

query 1) Dimension: Purchase Order / Purchase Request / PO value - Filter: Issue date

query 2) Dimension: Purchase Request / PR value

Also, in Report I merged dimension "Purchase Request" to have result showed above.

This Report go in time out for memory problem.

 

Questions are:

How many record are processed in WEBI report?

From DSO PO (query 1) I think only 2 record (applied filter on issue date 10/10/2013), but I have doubts on record processed by query 2: 1 record (applied filter from result of first query...) or all record of DSO purchase request (more than 600.000 record) causing performance issue...

 

Do you have some suggestion?

I read note no.1946036 (MDX: Long runtime and high memory consumption with filter function) regarding an optimization missing and an excessive volume of data is requested from the OLAP processor. Solution suggested: Import Support Package 15 in SAP BW.

Do you think I solve performance issue with last SP?

Prompts of old report shown in all newly created reports

I have a report which was used as template to create many reports.  Only first report has P1 as prompt. Though P1 is not present in other reports, it is shown in prompt of other reports when the below steps are performed in order 1) Refresh 2) click cancel. or sometimes showsup randomly during multiple refresh of same report.

 

So randomly P1 prompt is shown in other reports . How to get rid of this erroneous prompt?

Has anyone faced the issue? Is there any other place where this linking of so called memory needs to be delinked?

#Overflow error due to division with 1.#INF

I am working with BO 4.0 i want to divide two measure objects, where as A/B , the B 's  one of the values is 1.#INF so i am getting

#overflow error so i want to change 1.#INF(measure) to value 1. how can i achive this.

correlated subqueries in webi/designer

Hi,

 

i want to know how correlated subqueries can be achieved in web intelligence.

From BOBJ forum, if the correlated subquery is in where clause of the sql, then it can be achived by creating a predefine query filter in the universe.

What about if the correlated subquery is in the select statment of the SQL. how can i achieve this either at webi report or universe level.

 

I am actually converting free hand sql reports to webi by designing a universe. i have lot of reports using this correlated subqueries in select and where clause. the below is a scenario where i am looking to get this in webi or universe.

Problem withdata while saving the Webi Report in Excel

Hi All,

 

Just Now  we migrated our Webi reports on 4.1.

When I am schduling report in excel In my report some ? sign will come.

 

If I do save -> save as Excel it will save properly but Save as execel 2007 It will save ? marks in some column.

Schdule in execl also doing same.please see following screen shot.error1.JPG

 

Please guide me how to sort out this issue.
